$14.00 for a ring job! And the customer claims the mechanic is trying to rip him off. I found the brief plugs for Perfect Circle Auto Parts reminiscent of the old 50's TV shows where the celebrity did the commercials. Modern times see Jordan, Tiger Woods, Nascar drivers, et al hacking their sponsor's product. Cool flick, and the word "hell" was used at least four times, way before "Gone With The Wind".

I could say that Thru Traffic is just one big Jem Handy commercial, a mild action / drama that deftly throws in the name of the sponsor, Perfect Circle Auto Parts in whenever possible. But this movie seems to want to go beyond that. While it doesnt really succeed, as the novelty of the sponsorship thing proved (to me anyways) too much of a distraction from the movie. As a matter of fact, Im sure that if you took away the sponsorship angle, youd have a cute little story here.
A duo of banged up auto drivers agree to pair up to open up an auto shop, not just ANY auto shop, but one with trust and integrity! And of course, thats the kind of product Perfect Circle is! Since its so squeaky clean, Those Corrupt Government Officials want to soil it up with shady business deals and cheaper products! No can do! Says one of the pair, but the other one is sort of swayed in by all this fancy talk, and especially fast money. So that builds up friction between the two. Oh yeah, of course, theres a Girl there thrown in for good measure. This all ends up of course, in a burning building. One of the men is trapped inside - will the fire engine make it in time! WAIT! Theyre not using Perfect Circle! Oh Dear.

A sponsored film about racecar drivers who become mechanics and learn about politics and graft.
A hand cranked ambulance siren!
'Skating on thin ice'!
The classic 1930s film climax seems to be a burning building...
The Pennsylviania State Board of Censors!? WTF!?

unique and enjoyable
I believe that this is the only sponsored feature film in the Archive. There are advertising plugs for the company,s products in the film. It was filmed by warner bros. for the Perfect Circle Company maker of automotive parts including piston rings. However it is well made DRAMA with fine acting, photography and a strong story with a racing car theme. I enjoyed this film
